starts to fall out at around 3 months of age. The father is the one that
goes to hunt while the mother stays at the den to guard the pups, the
father will bring back live prey so the mother can feed so she can
produce milk to feed her young. If danger stumbles near the den the
father will try to distract the enemy by rearing and then stomping on

<span style="color: #f1c232;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><span style="font-size: small;"><b>Now
that we have an answer to the horn (two horn buds growing beside each
other) we can answer the question: What about a unicorns magic? Well
lets start with how the horn works in the first place. The inside of a
cow horn is hallow so lets say that our unicorns horn is also
hallow, now we have a space where special tissue can go. That special
spongy tissue is the answer to the unicorns mysterious magic. The brain
sends two special chemicals to the tissue of the horn that then gets
stored for later use. Those chemicals are <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luciferin">Lu</a></b><b><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luciferin">ciferin</a> which is a chemical that emits light when exposed to oxygen and </b></span><span style="font-size: small;"><b><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luciferase">Luciferase</a>
which determines the color of the light (this is how fireflies and some
scorpions glow). The colors depend on how the two chemicals mix which
can result in colors like red, blue, green, yellow, and even purple. For
the unicorn its horn will glow mostly at dusk and at night. The color
is normally yellow or green but during the day if the horn glows it will
normally be red. The chemicals get to the surface of the horn through
special pores in the horn that allow the chemicals to travel to the
surface by getting squeezed out of the tissue at the center of the horn
by muscles (much like how the muscles around our pours in our skin
squeeze water out of the skin to cool us off). The unicorn evolved </b><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bioluminescence"><b>bioluminescence</b></a><b> as a form of communication since the unicorn is a cathemeral
animal which is an animal that is active both day and night. The
glowing horn is used to frighten predators to make it look like the
unicorn is poisonous (though they are not). The unicorn will also rub
its horn on trees, rocks, and grass to mark its territory leaving a
glowing smudge on the objects. But the unicorn horn is not magic at all.
Just like its cousin the rhino the unicorns horn it just like a cows
horn that possess no magical power at all.</b></span></span></span></div>

<span style="color: #f1c232;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><span style="font-size: small;"><b>Now
that the horn is settled lets get to the body and why the unicorn has
certain features. First is the mane, just like the mane on a horse or
lion it's to help protect the neck from the sharp hooves and teeth of an
opponent.</b></span></span></span><br />
<br />
<span style="color: #f1c232;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><b><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-size: large;"><u>Feat<span style="font-size: large;">hers:</span></u></span><br /><span style="font-size: small;">The
hair behind the legs is a different matter. The hair is called feathers
and it is not truly known what purpose they serve. Most argue that it's
to help keep warm, though this may make sense to some it is not the
answer. If an animal had to keep warm they would have shorter legs,
bodies, neck, and tail. Not simply more fur, also horses don't loose
vary much heat through their legs making the Maintain Body Heat theory
completely wrong. Another theory is that it acts like a leafs edge
(called the </span></span></span></span></span></span></b><b>Margin) and
keeps the lower leg and hoof dry, which in turn will help keep
infection at bay and will help prevent Rain Rot which is the rotting of
the skin when exposed to the elements to long. This theory makes more
sense then the last so lets go with that.</b></span></span><br />

<span style="color: #f1c232;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><span style="font-size: small;"><b>It
is unknown if the beard of a unicorn serves a purpose or not, but it is
estimated that it helps the animal to attract mates, though both male
and female unicorns have beards that are roughly the same length which
disproves the theory. A better explanation is that it determines a
unicorn's health and age. A shorter beard means that the unicorn is
young or sick, while a long one means that the unicorn is older or

ear tufts are another mystery it is thought that they help the unicorn
hear better (like a lynx's ear tufts) or help protect the ears from
frostbite. The answer is most likely both. It is proven that the ear
tufts do help to improve hearing in lynx, bobcats, and caracals, so why
not unicorns as well? In colder climates though the ear tufts can have
an additional use by helping to keep the ears warm so the animal doesn't
suffer from frostbite in cold winters or rain.</b></span></span></span><br />

Unlike their land, dwelling cousins, dragons, both the male and female
sea serpents take care of the eggs and young. Unlike other ocean
dwelling reptiles though, the sea serpent doesn't give birth to live
young. Instead the eggs have a vary rough surface which traps air to
form a life sustaining air bubble around the egg. The parents take turns
gulping in air at the surface and gently blowing it onto the eggs while
the other parent guards against predators and possibly other sea
serpents. The eggs are kept warm by the air bubble that</b></span></span><b><span style="color: #f1c232;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><span style="font-size: small;"> surrounds it.<span style="font-size: small;"> </span>The air is warmed in the parents flight bladder to <span style="font-size: small;">a</span> </span><span style="font-size: small;"><br />temperature<span style="font-size: small;"> between 31-33</span></span><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-size: small;">º C. <span style="color: #f1c232;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><b><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-size: small;">On April 29 2015 a real dragon was found. A dinosaur that lived in the Jurassic period named Yi qi (yee-chee). Though it couldn't breath fire, the dinosaur was the size of a pigeon with small, downy feathers covering its body and long feathers on the end of its tail. Though unlike most gliding/flying dinosaurs Yi qi had membranes stretching between its fingers, a modified wrist bone and finely connecting to the body. The way that the wrist bone was orientated is still unknown though it is thought that the wing would have looked more like a bats wing. Yi qi is also believed to have been an insect eater </span></span></b></span></span><br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #f1c232;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><b><span style="font-size: small;">Fire
is the dragons main defense, but how did they breathe fire? Well it is
all in a organ called the Flight Bladder. The Flight Bladder (located
above the lungs) is used for storing Methane and Hydrogen which are both
flammable gases. The dragon also coats its molars with a mineral called
Platinum and when<span style="font-size: small;"> </span>methane/hydrogen, platinum, and
oxygen combine it creates fire. The mouth of the dragon is armor plated
and the dragon also has a False Palate (similar to the ones that
crocodilians have) to prevent backdraft.</span></b></span></span><br />

<span style="color: #f1c232;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><b><span style="font-size: small;">The <span style="font-size: small;">debate</span>
is that dragons were to big and heavy for flight to ever be possible,
but now we know better and now we can get a dragon off the ground. Like
birds and dinosaurs, dragons have hallow/honeycomb bones that makes the
animal lighter but the bones are still strong. <span style="font-size: small;">N</span>ext
are huge lungs and a large heart and muscle. But that still isn't
enough. The dragon is still too heavy to get off the ground. The Flight
Bladder is the answer, it stores methane and hydrogen which are both
lighter then air gasses. This organ now has two functions: Flight and
breathing fire. Evolution at its finest.</span></b></span></span><br />

But first let's<span style="font-size: small;"> talk about the evolution of the wings<span style="font-size: small;">:
The wings actually started out as the original forelimbs, but over
millions of years they grew a membrane and turned into a wing (Yes </span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></b></span></span><span style="color: #f1c232;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><b><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="color: #f1c232;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><b>Wyvern</b></span></span>s
came first). But than some species' became top heavy so through a
genetic mutation with a gene known as Sonic Hedgehog the dragon grew
extra limbs under the wings.</span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></b><b> Normally an animal with this mutation <span style="font-size: small;">doesn't last long <span style="font-size: small;">but for the dragon<span style="font-size: small;">s a<span style="font-size: small;">ncestors it was a <span style="font-size: small;">neutral</span> <span style="font-size: small;">adaptation meaning that it wasn't good or bad. <span style="font-size: small;">O</span>ver time the limbs became more complex and started to become small hands. These hands<span style="font-size: small;"> were most<span style="font-size: small;">ly used to <span style="font-size: small;">communicate or to pick up something. <span style="font-size: small;">Eventually</span> the hands became big enough for the <span style="font-size: small;">animal to put their weight on them, becoming extra legs<span style="font-size: small;">. The flight bladder began to evolve when wings evolved under a similar mutation<span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-size: small;"> with the gene that controls lung growth around the time wings evolved.</span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span></b></span></span><br />

<span style="font-size: small;">The wings of the Wyvern dragon serve the same purposes as
the classic dragon but have evolved differently. The Wyvern simply
turned to walking upright like a T. Rex</span>, once the arms were free

the fingers got longer and the webbing more spread out, and just like
the Classic Dragon the Flight Bladder was evolving at this point.

the wings got bigger and the Flight Bladder more complex the Wyvern

raises the quill to make it puff up like a porcupines quills. The
vertebrae at the end of the Manticore's tail are fused which helps
support the quills. The Manticore does not "shoot" its quills but rather
uses them as a powerful defense. When threatened by another predator or
another Manticore, the Manticore will turn sideways and swing its tail
back and forth slowly as a warning to the threat. If that doesn't work
the Manticore will either attack the threat head on or will swing its
tail with enough force that any loose or shedding quills will fly

features that its ancestors had but the species lost. Humans
occasionally have this too like being born with a tail, being double
jointed in the legs, hands, arms, and feet, having dark skin though your
parents are white, or having long hair all over the body. The

six months old. Unlike their african cousins though Manticore females do
not take turns nursing each others young but if a cub looses its mother
sometimes another mother will adopt the cub, though this is rare. The
males help protect the cubs and sometimes even play with them, but the
biggest danger is other Manticores, primarily other males. Just like
african lions if the dominate male Manticore gets defeated by a new male
the new male will kill all the cubs that are not old enough to be
sexually active or chased away.</b></span></span></span><br />

cubs themselves are a lighter colour then their parents and have small
brown spots on them. Cubs don't have quills on the end of their tails
and often don't hold their tails up until they are about 1 year old. </b></span></span></span></div>
